BCAA stands for branched-chain amino acids. These particular amino acids are responsible for muscle protein synthesis, meaning they are essential for muscle growth and repair.

Unfortunately, not all BCAA supplements are created equally. In this review of Xellerate's BCAA supplement, I will see how good they really are.

What is Xellerate's BCAA Supplement?

Xellerate claims they have created a BCAA supplement that is GMO-free, gluten-free, suitable for vegans and pure and high-strength.

This supplement contains a 2:1:1 ratio of branched-chain amino acids as well as Vitamin B6.

Each tub contains 425 BCAA tablets; one serving is three tablets - meaning this is just over 141 days worth of supplement. All for a very reasonable price.

Let's take a closer look at BCAAs and this supplement.

What are BCAAs?

Twenty different amino acids make up the thousands of proteins in the body. Nine of these twenty amino acids are essential amino acids.

Of these nine essential amino acids, there are three branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs): leucine, isoleucine and valine.

Leucine plays a vital role in muscle protein synthesis (muscle growth), while isoleucine induces glucose uptake into cells. (1)

However, valine still needs further research to conclude its benefit.


This BCAA supplement contains the three branched-chain amino acids.

1) L-Leucine

Leucine is an essential amino acid that must be obtained from the diet and is used for protein synthesis.It is the primary BCAA and has much more testing behind it than the other two BCAAs.

It has benefits for muscle growth via activating an anabolic pathway known as mTOR, meaning this amino acid is perfect for supporting muscle growth.

2) L-Isoleucine

Isoleucine is another amino acid that is used in protein synthesis. It appears to promote glucose uptake as well as possibly being an anti-catabolic.

Anti-catabolic means isoleucine helps to prevent muscle breakdown. Therefore, l-isoleucine is also a valuable addition to this supplement.

3) L-Valine

L-valine, similarly to leucine and isoleucine, is also used in the synthesis of proteins.

Valine seems to be the least beneficial amino acid; however, it is still a helpful addition to this BCAA supplement.

4) Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 is a beneficial supportive vitamin; it may help in energy production. Though it won't make much of a difference, I think Vitamin B6 is a valuable addition.

Does it Work?

Yes, studies show that BCAAs increase muscle protein synthesis. (2)

Muscle protein synthesis is an essential factor in muscle growth. Therefore, Xellerate's BCAA supplement may help build muscle.

The dosage of the BCAAs is also adequate to stimulate this process. So far, I think Xellerate's BCAAs support their claims.

My Review of Xellerate BCAAs

After trying this supplement for many months and researching the science behind the ingredients, I can conclude this supplement works.

Not only does it work, but it is also excellent value for money. The ingredients in Xellerate's BCAA supplement support their claims of enhanced muscle growth and recovery.

However, supplements don't do all the work; you have to follow the process and work hard for BCAAs to benefit you.

To benefit fully from this supplement, following a diet, exercising and working hard will go a long way!
